Our Story

The tradition of selling fine furniture began at M.L. Ford & Sons Furniture Store in 1890.  At that time, furniture was evolving from craftsmen making each piece by hand to cabinet makers working in steam powered factories producing bedroom and dining room suites.  At M.L. Ford & Sons the furniture was delivered by wagon and that same furniture wagon sits in the warehouse today as a reminder of our very rich and noble past.

We are the oldest family owned business in York County, South Carolina.  Martin Brian Hall, III, the great-grandson of M.L. Ford, is a 4th generation owner.  While the furniture industry has certainly changed and we have become masters at changing with it, we continue to strive to provide the same personal attention to detail and service that we have become known for through the years. 

Today, we carry many of the finest lines in the furniture industry and have professional interior designers on staff.  They are here to answer your questions and help you with a single chair or lamp to fit into your existing décor, or with furniture for a room or your entire home.  They are available by appointment Monday through Saturday.    

Trish Sacco is an established designer who has worked at M.L. Ford & Sons Furniture for over 15 years.  "I have enjoyed helping clients create working and living environments they feel comfortable in. The greatest compliment I can receive is when repeat clients come back over the years for help with a new project."
