What’s New- 2021 Highpoint Furniture Market

After a year of uncertainty with the postponement and eventual cancelation of the 2020 Spring furniture market we saw real signs of a recovery this fall. We had to squeeze into elevators, appointments were a necessity and parking spaces were just as scarce as ever. The one big difference other than the masks was the one big question all retailers were asking- When will I actually get the product that I’ve had on order for 5 to 6 months and when will I get what I order today? The log jam at ports, the shortage of workers in all areas of manufacturing, and the trucking industry and their problems has slowed everything down. We realize all retailers are suffering with us and the good news is we went to pre-market last Spring before everything shut down and the orders we placed then will be in any day now so… we are really excited to introduce the Silverado Collection by Lexington Home Brands

Lexington-Silverado

This new collection has clean lines and classic styling that reflects the updated look of New Traditional styling. The hallmark of high-end traditional design is now more casual, clean architectural lines with an emphasis on comfortable seating. The wood pieces are crafted from walnut veneers and mahogany solids in a rich, dark walnut finish. The metal pieces feature beautiful tiger-brown travertine tops with bases of hand-wrought maritime brass over silverleaf.

Chelsea House

This has long been one of my personal favorites and there were many new introductions in furniture, lamps, accessories and art that you will be seeing on our floor soon. Bright blue seemed to be a new theme, getting away from so much navy. White also seemed to be a color or non-color used on traditional pieces. Chelsea House has been know for their beautiful colorful porcelain birds for many years, now those same birds were done in white for a softer more contemporary look. There were still many gold mirrors and accessories but silver was used more and more. There were many acrylic pieces, desks, tables, lamps, brackets, benches, all traditional pieces with traditional lines done in a different material and they were beautiful.

Sherrill Furniture

We have several new sofas, chairs and sectionals ordered which should be in soon. We have had great success with the 9600/9700 Design Your Own Program where you design your own custom chair, sofa, or sectional. You simply choose the smaller scale 9600 frame or larger scale 9700 frame and then select from several arm, base and back options. Choosing the fabric is the fun part and we have all of the Sherrill fabrics for you to choose from including performance fabrics that help you keep your sofa looking like new. We continued to see a trend in upholstery this market with the base fabric of the sofa, chair or sectional being a neutral color and the pillows pops of pattern and color to match your decor. When you decide to repaint or rethink your color scheme the only thing you will need to replace are the pillows.

What’s New-Fall 2020 High Point Furniture Market

This has been an interesting year for all of us! With the emergence of COVID 19 our lives have been turned upside down. The Furniture Market in High Point was rescheduled and canceled. This Fall we finally took our masks and hand sanitizer and traveled to High Point. Many of the showrooms remain closed and many of the plants where the furniture is made are either struggling to get the raw materials to make the furniture or they are just reopening. So with appointments and social distancing it was great to be back. As our loyal customers will tell anyone, it is so much better to be able to sit on the sofa or see the finish and color on an actual piece of furniture. Remember, we are customers too and having to order and sell something that we only see online or in a picture in a catalogue is almost impossible. Yes, I know this through experience!

Lexington Home Brands was our first stop, we were anxious to see the new introductions. Barclay Butera Park City was the big introduction. As an all-American designer Barclay Butera has been creating luxury lifestyle-inspired interiors for several years. He partnered with Lexington to produce his first fine furnishing lines, Newport and Brentwood in 2017. It was such a huge success he has designed several new furniture collections for Lexington. The design inspiration for his latest collection is Park City Utah. He pays homage to the mountains using textured white oak in a rich dark mocha finish.

Lexington Artistica

This is a line we are really excited about and we bought several pieces in different finishes and different woods and metal. From more traditional pieces in mahogany and walnut to woven leather and metal pieces this collection has just that specialty piece you have been looking for. There is dining room, bar stools, occasional tables, bookshelves, desks, etc. All of this across a wide range of styling with great attention to detail, and a keen focus on unique and sophisticated finishes. 2019 High Point Furniture Market

The Spring furniture market at High Point is usually not a market for big introductions. The Fall market is usually when companies bring out new brands and Spring is when they add to existing collections. This year there were plenty of new additions. Lexington added the new Dune collection to the Barclay Butera Brand. It is another beautiful light finish. This collection includes dining room, bedroom, great room and occasional pieces. You will see the bedroom and some of the occasional pieces on our floor soon. We also are adding a beautiful Tommy Bahama poster bed that is one of my favorites! New Wildwood lamps will also be arriving soon along with new art and a new crystal lamp line. The crystal lamps have clean lines and will work with anything, anywhere. We also bought them in a variety of shapes and sizes. We always shop at Uttermost for the very latest in accessories and we bought several pieces of their furniture this time. Leather is always another category that’s a shopping priority. Motion is the big news at Bradington Young again this market. Leather sofas, sectionals and recliners move now with the touch of a button, new additions will be on our floor in the near future. We look forward to seeing you soon!!

2018 High Point Furniture Market

2017 Fall Furniture Market

Here are a few of the highlights of the 2017 Fall Furniture Market at High Point. We saw beautiful things and some of the themes seemed to be light pastel colors including many shades of blue. Furniture finishes are still light and most large pieces have clean, simple styling. Painted furniture seems to be important and even furniture lines that have always been known to be traditional, like Harden, are moving to black painted pieces and are experimenting with grey finishes. Leather is very important in the market with more grey tones in leather sofas and chairs. The scale of leather sofas seems to be getting smaller as there is a new appreciation that homes are getting smaller. Upholstery is still neutral with pillows providing pops of color. Of course grey continues to be the neutral of choice and accessories are primarily black, blue, navy and pastel colors. Wall art is interesting and seems to be moving away from simple framed pieces of art to actual metal and wood sculptures on the wall. Dimension and texture seems to be a theme with art. Buying for the store continues to be a challenge as the definition of traditional furniture has certainly changed. There is no more "old traditional", everything is "new traditional" and I'm not sure anyone really knows what that is yet.
